How long will a 20kg bag last your dog?
Slide to your dog's weight. We use Black Hawk's own adult feeding guide, so the answer is the same one printed on the back of the bag.
Active and working dogs may need up to 25% more; easy keepers a little less. Split the daily amount over two meals.

What's in the bag, and why it matters at 40 kilos
Why this bag, for this dog.
-
Protein
Australian lamb, first on the list.
The first ingredient on the bag is lamb meal from Australian pasture-grazed lamb, backed by chicken meal and fish meal. That is where the 25% protein comes from: muscle-building protein for a dog whose frame does real work every day.

Joints
Fifty kilos is a lot to carry.
Big dogs load their hips, elbows and shoulders harder than small dogs do, from the first zoomie to the last slow walk. Glucosamine and chondroitin are in every serve, with emu oil and omega-3 from fish alongside them.

-
Digestion
A gut that stays settled.
Chicory root and beet pulp provide natural prebiotic fibre that feeds the good bacteria in the gut. In practice that means firmer, more predictable stools, which matters when your dog produces as much as a large one does.

Grains
Oats and rice. Not wheat and corn.
The carbohydrates here are Australian-grown oats and rice: slow-release energy that holds a working dog through the day. You will not find wheat or corn in the recipe, two of the ingredients most often blamed for itchy skin and loose stools.

Energy
3,770 kilocalories per kilo.
Dense food means smaller serves. A 35kg dog eats around 350 grams a day, so a 20kg bag lasts close to two months. Fewer trips to the shop, fewer bags to carry up the stairs.

Changing food
Switch over seven days, not one.
A big dog's gut notices a sudden change. Mix the new food in gradually and most dogs never miss a beat.
